Project Sakhi Satchel: ASHA Bag Distribution

Project Sakhi Satchel is an initiative of Promising Indian Society dedicated to supporting ASHA workers by providing them with practical and organized utility bags that enhance their efficiency, mobility, and effectiveness in delivering essential healthcare services at the grassroots level. Recognizing the critical role played by frontline health workers in maternal and child healthcare, community outreach, and health awareness, the project seeks to equip them with the resources needed to perform their responsibilities more effectively.

Under this initiative, specially designed ASHA bags containing organized storage compartments and essential utility items such as lunch boxes, water bottles, and field-use accessories were distributed to support healthcare workers during their daily outreach activities. These bags help improve the organization of health records and medical resources while providing greater convenience during long field visits.

As part of the programme, 2,248 ASHA workers in Kota, Rajasthan received Sakhi Satchels to support their community healthcare activities and improve their fieldwork efficiency. The initiative was further expanded across Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts of Assam, where 2,901 ASHA workers were provided with specialized utility bags and essential support materials, helping strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery and fostering a greater sense of professional confidence and dignity.

Through Project Sakhi Satchel, Promising Indian Society continues to strengthen frontline healthcare systems by empowering ASHA workers with the tools and resources necessary to serve their communities effectively and efficiently.
