Project Vanita: Menstrual Hygiene Management
Project Vanita is a flagship initiative of Promising Indian Society dedicated to promoting menstrual hygiene awareness and ensuring access to sanitary products for adolescent girls and women. The programme seeks to improve health, well-being, and educational outcomes by addressing menstrual hygiene challenges and breaking the social stigma associated with menstruation through awareness, education, and community engagement.
Through targeted awareness campaigns and the distribution of sanitary napkins, the initiative empowers women and girls with the knowledge and resources required to manage menstrual health with confidence and dignity. The programme also encourages open conversations around menstrual hygiene, fostering greater awareness and creating supportive environments within communities.
As part of the initiative, comprehensive menstrual hygiene awareness sessions and sanitary napkin distribution drives were conducted in Ahmedabad West, Gujarat, benefiting 3,920 adolescent girls. By improving access to menstrual hygiene products and promoting informed health practices, the programme helped support school attendance, enhance confidence, and encourage healthier menstrual hygiene management among young girls.
Through Project Vanita, Promising Indian Society continues to advance women’s health, dignity, and empowerment by creating sustainable awareness and improving access to essential menstrual hygiene resources for underserved communities.
