Project Sakhi Satchel: ASHA and Anganwadi Support Kits

Project Sakhi Satchel is an initiative of Promising Indian Society aimed at supporting ASHA workers and Anganwadi functionaries who serve as the backbone of grassroots healthcare and community outreach. Recognizing the challenges faced by frontline workers in delivering essential health and nutrition services, the project focuses on enhancing their mobility, efficiency, and overall working conditions through the provision of practical and field-ready support kits.

Under this initiative, specially designed Sakhi Satchels equipped with essential utility items such as organized storage compartments, secure document holders, insulated water bottles, lunch boxes, and other workplace essentials were distributed to frontline healthcare workers. These kits were designed to help them carry records, health materials, and personal necessities more efficiently while undertaking extensive field visits in challenging geographical conditions.

In Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, the project supported 5,000 ASHA workers and Anganwadi Sahayikas by providing comprehensive utility kits that improved their comfort, mobility, and

effectiveness while delivering healthcare and nutrition services across remote and hilly regions. The initiative was further expanded in Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, where 5,893 grassroots healthcare workers received Sakhi Satchels equipped with organized storage solutions and essential utility items, enabling more efficient management of health records and community outreach activities.

By strengthening the capacity and well-being of frontline workers, Project Sakhi Satchel contributes to improved healthcare outreach, better service delivery, and stronger community health systems, while recognizing and supporting the invaluable role played by these grassroots health champions.
