Renewable Energy and Environmental Sustainability

We believe that true progress should not only empower communities but also protect the planet we share. Across many underserved regions, inadequate lighting infrastructure limits mobility, public safety, economic activity, and overall quality of life after sunset. Through our field assessments, we observed that poorly lit roads and public spaces created daily challenges for women, children, farmers, and elderly residents, while also restricting social and economic activities within communities. To address these challenges sustainably, Promising Indian Society has implemented solar-powered lighting interventions that harness clean energy to create safer, more accessible, and environmentally responsible public spaces.

Through the Solar Light Installation Initiative, solar-powered street lighting systems have been established across multiple rural and underserved communities, enhancing night-time visibility, improving public safety, and strengthening local infrastructure. These interventions have enabled safer movement, increased community connectivity, and supported economic and social activities after dark while reducing dependence on conventional energy sources and promoting environmental sustainability.

By advancing renewable energy solutions and sustainable infrastructure development, Promising Indian Society is contributing to safer, greener, and more resilient communities. These efforts support SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 13: Climate Action, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable development and long-term community well-being.

Our Projects

Installation of 388 Solar Street Lights (District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh)

Our project teams installed 388 heavy-duty solar street lights across Mandi’s challenging mountainous terrain, improving visibility and safety on steep, winding paths. The initiative enhances night mobility for 38,800 residents, supports safer access to essential community services, schools, healthcare facilities, and local roads, and strengthens connectivity and confidence among communities living in remote and hilly areas while promoting sustainable development and long-term community well-being.

Installation of 100 Solar Street-Powered Lights (Sabarkantha, Gujarat)

Grassroots assessments in Sabarkantha revealed erratic electricity supply, leaving public spaces dark due to frequent power outages. We installed 100 independent solar-powered street lights operating completely off-grid, reducing municipal electricity burdens, creating green public pathways, and benefiting 10,000 local citizens.

The initiative improved safety, accessibility, and evening mobility while supporting cleaner public spaces and strengthening sistainable community development across Sabarkantha.

Support for Solar Street Lighting in Village Clusters (Kheremia, Borbam, Langkachi, and Haldibari, Assam)

Field visits to the tea community blocks of Kheremia, Borbam, Langkachi, and Haldibari highlighted the absence of functional street lighting, making movement after sunset unsafe. We established solar-powered lighting grids across rural pathways, improving mobility, strengthening village-level social life, securing surroundings, and benefiting over 10,000 community residents. The initiative also promotes safer communities and sustainable rural development.

Solar Street Light Infrastructure Installations (Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh)

Regional surveys across agricultural hamlets of Sitapur identified rural roads and village markets that remained completely dark after dusk. We launched a large-scale solar illumination campaign to maximize visibility across village pathways and internal roads, reducing regional carbon emissions and providing a permanent blanket of safety and environmental resilience for over 35,000 rural beneficiaries across the district. The initiative promotes sustainable development while improving safety and rural connectivity.
